For Release: May 18, 2007

The Adaptive Management Work Group (AMWG) will conduct a conference call on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, to address issues related to the operation of Glen Canyon Dam and ongoing monitoring of downstream conditions in conjunction with the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program (AMP).

The AMWG will receive information on the Quagga Mussel, an update on the status of the Long-Term Experimental Plan Environmental Impact Statement for operational activities at Glen Canyon Dam, beach/habitat building flow science plan update, draft fiscal year 2008 budget, and other related issues. Several agenda items will be voted on and potentially developed into recommendations for the Secretary of the Interior.

The AMWG is a Federal Advisory Committee appointed by the Secretary of the Interior with representatives from federal agencies, Colorado River basin states, Native American tribal governments, environmental groups, recreation interests and contractors for federal power from Glen Canyon Dam. The AMWG makes it possible for the Secretary to receive recommendations from these varied stakeholder interests on how to best protect downstream resources and balance river operations.

The conference call will be held from 9 a.m-12 p.m. PDT. Due to limited ports for the call, please contact Linda Whetton at 801-524-3880 to register for the call.
