The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of the Conveyance of Refuge Water Supply Draft Environmental Assessment/Initial Study (EA/IS) for public review and comment. The Draft EA/IS evaluates alternatives that address infrastructure conditions that prevent reliable year-round water deliveries to Mendota Wildlife Area in Central California.

The Draft EA/IS identifies and evaluates the potential environmental consequences of implementing the proposed alternatives. The Draft EA/IS was developed to meet the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Reclamation is the Federal lead agency for NEPA compliance and the Central California Irrigation District is the CEQA lead agency.
