For Release: April 12, 2007

The Bureau of Reclamation is hosting a shoreline clean-up project for the Valley Springs Cub Scout Pack #352 at New Melones Lake Saturday, April 14, 2007.  Approximately 40 Cub Scouts, ages 7 to 12 years of age, along with parents and siblings, will gather along the shoreline of Glory Hole Recreation Area’s two day-use areas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday to pick up trash and perform general clean-up of the areas.  The event is part of the national “Take Pride in America” partnership.

The two areas, Osprey Point Day Use and Black Bart Day Use, are popular picnic and day use areas and will benefit greatly from the group’s efforts.  The lake’s wildlife and visitors who come to view it will benefit from the pleasures of a clean and litter-free environment, and the cub scouts themselves will benefit from their accomplishments and the gratification of giving back to the community.

For more information about the clean-up event, contact Park Ranger Pattie Guida at the New Melones Lake Visitor Center at 209-536-9094, extension 221, or e-mail pguida@mp.usbr.gov.
