For Release: April 10, 2007

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of the Draft East Park Reservoir Fire Management Plan (FMP) and Draft Environmental Assessment (EA).  The Draft FMP and Draft EA are being developed for the Northern California Area Office (NCAO) to guide a range of fire management activities permitted by policy at East Park Reservoir, Colusa County, California, for a 10-year period.

The Draft FMP and Draft EA emphasize a program that uses fire suppression and prescribed fire activities to reduce hazards on Reclamation’s East Park Reservoir lands and provide resource management benefits as described the East Park Reservoir Resource Management Plan/EA.  When the FMP is completed, East Park Reservoir’s fire management program will be able to employ a variety of activities, with the assistance of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, to accomplish land and resource management objectives and reduce the risk of fire.

The Draft EA, was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, is available for a
15-day public review and is available at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=2673
