The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $1,565,795 contract on Wednesday to replace the concrete transfer deck at the Snake Creek Pumping Plant. The contract was awarded to Industrial Builders, Inc., of Fargo, ND.

Recent structural problems with the concrete transfer deck will require removing a portion of the existing transfer deck and replacing with a new cast-in-place concrete deck. The work is scheduled to begin in May and completion is scheduled for November. The work to be performed under the contract is part of the routine operation and maintenance performed on Reclamation facilities to assure their safe and reliable operation.

The pumping plant is located about six miles north of Coleharbor, ND, just off Highway 83 adjacent to the embankment which separates Lake Sakakawea from Audubon Lake. It was completed in 1975 and is the primary facility used to supply water to Audubon Lake, McClusky Canal, and other features of the Garrison Diversion Unit project. The pumping plant will be out of service during the construction work and Lake Audubon will fluctuate based on natural runoff, evaporation, and will be maintained within the Corps of Engineers head restrictions for the Snake Creek Embankment.
