The Bureau of Reclamation has increased flows from A.R. Bowman Dam in order to accommodate mountain snowmelt now entering the reservoir. The dam is located on the Crooked River about 18 miles south of Prineville, Ore. Outflows from the dam are anticipated to range from 500 to 1,250 cfs at this time but will require further adjustments over the next few weeks according to precipitation and temperature trends.

"People who may be near or around the Crooked River should exercise caution due to the possible dangers of swiftly moving water," said Leo Busch, Reclamation Bend Field Office Manager. "Water needs to be released from Prineville Reservoir in order to make room for additional inflows into the system."

As of Friday, March 23, flows from Bowman Dam were about 900 cfs. Reclamation officials anticipate the reservoir to be at its full pool elevation by the first of April. It is anticipated the reservoir will remain near full during most of the spring season.
