Reclamation is seeking public comment on a Draft Environmental Assessment for its Resource Management Plan that outlines possible recreation improvements at Horsetooth, Carter Lake, Pinewood, and Flatiron reservoirs. Recreation at the reservoirs is managed by Larimer County Parks and Open Lands.

Reclamation's Resource Management Plan, or "RMP," provides guidelines for how the County will develop and implement recreation opportunities at the four reservoirs over the next ten years. Because the reservoirs are federally owned, proposed recreation improvements are required to be disclosed and analyzed under the National Environmental Policy Act. The Draft EA summarizes the public process and possible resulting environmental impacts.

Reclamation is accepting comments on the Draft EA, in writing only, by letter, e-mail, or fax. Comments can be sent to the attention of Vic Grizzle, Bureau of Reclamation, 11056 W. CR 18E, Loveland, CO 80537; vgrizzle@gp.usbr.gov; or fax (970) 663-3212.

Larimer County Parks and Open Lands is also accepting comments on their sister document, the Parks Master Plan. To submit Master Plan comments to the County, please e-mail Debra Wykoff at dwykoff@larimer.org.

Both documents are available at http://www.larimer.org/parks/masterplan/. Comments on all documents will be accepted through April 7, 2007.

For more information regarding Parks and Open Lands' Reservoir Parks Master Plan, please contact Debra Wykoff at (970) 679-4570. For a hard copy of the Draft EA, or questions related to the four reservoirs and corresponding RMP, please contact Kara Lamb at either (970) 962-4326 or at klamb@gp.usbr.gov.
