Comment Period Extended for Draft Environmental Documents for Water Transfers and Exchanges Between CVP and Non-CVP Contractors

The Bureau of Reclamation is extending the comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment EA) and the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the conditional pre-approval of transfers and exchanges of water between long-term Central Valley Project (CVP) contractors and prospective non-CVP contractors in the lower San Joaquin Valley. The proposed actions include transfers and exchanges of CVP water and would allow improved timing and flexibility in water management throughout the lower San Joaquin Valley.

The Draft EA and Draft FONSI were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=2566. Comments on the draft documents must be received by close of business Friday, March 9, 2007. For additional information or to request a copy of the draft documents, please contact Ms. Myers at 559-487-5179. Reclamation anticipates that a Final EA and FONSI will be signed in March 2007.
