Draft Environmental Documents Available for 1-Year Warren Act Contract with Lindsay-Strathmore Irrigation District Water Supply 2007

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a temporary Warren Act contract for 1 year with Lindsay-Strathmore Irrigation District (LSID). The purpose is to convey up to 10,000 acre-feet of non-Central Valley Project (Project) water through the Friant-Kern Canal, when feasible. In most years, one-third of this non-Project water is conveyed in Project facilities to LSID and the remaining two-thirds is delivered in non-Project facilities to Tulare Irrigation District (TID) for ground-water recharge purposes for LSID’s benefit in dry years. In dry years, the non-Project water could be delivered to LSID rather than to TID.
The Draft EA and Draft FONSI have been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available for a 15-day public review.
