The Bureau of Reclamation has named Dennis Philmon as the facility manager at Reclamation's Hungry Horse Dam in Montana. Philmon replaces Ralph Carter, who retired at the end of December.

Philmon is a native of Okanogan, Wash., and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Seattle University. After graduating, he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Everett, Wash., before beginning his career with Reclamation in 1989 as a mechanical engineer at Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River. In 1999, he was promoted to a supervisory facilities operations specialist at Grand Coulee's Third Power Plant where he directed maintenance activities on some of the world's largest hydroelectric generators.

Philmon and his wife, Joan, have three daughters; Cailey, Leah, and Kendra.

Hungry Horse Dam, completed in 1953, is located on the South Fork of the Flathead River in northwestern Montana. The dam creates power benefits that extend from the Continental Divide westward to the Pacific Ocean. The project is also a popular recreation destination and features an updated visitor center for tourists that is open during the summer.
