Boca Dam Road Opening

Media Contact: Jeffrey S. McCracken, 916.978-5100, 12/07/2006 21:03

For Release: December 07, 2006

The Bureau of Reclamation has reopened the road across Boca Dam located east of Truckee, California, and west of Reno, Nevada.  The road was closed in March 2006 to implement a security plan for the dam to help provide protection to the public and lands downstream.  The plan included prohibiting vehicular access on the Reclamation-owned road across the dam under certain conditions.  The road will remain open until security conditions warrantMap another closure.

To obtain information about the status of road access, call Reclamations recording at 1-800-742-9474.  When prompted on the recording, press 2, and then press 4 for Boca Dam road closure information.

For additional information about the road closure, please contact Mrs. Caryn Huntt DeCarlo, Environmental Specialist, Lahontan Basin Area Office, Carson City, Nevada, at 775-882-3436.
