For Release: November 15, 2006

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the establishment of a website for the public to learn about recreational opportunities at New Melones Lake, including information on fishing, camping (and how to make reservations), biking, water skiing, and hiking. The site also includes park visitor hours throughout the year, a photo gallery, other attractions like the Visitors Center, and directions on how to get there.

"Over the summer, we worked diligently to create a site where the public can get up-to-date and accurate information about the recreational opportunities at New Melones Lake," said Park Ranger Brian Buttazoni. "During the summer, many of our visitors come from the Central Valley and Bay Area. This website will assist them in planning their visits."

The public can access the newly launched New Melones website at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/field_offices/new_melones/index.html . If you encounter problems accessing the website, please contact Ms. Lynnette Wirth at 916-978-5102 or e-mail lwirth@mp.usbr.gov .

For more information, please contact Park Ranger Buttazoni at 209-536-9094, ext. 233, or bbuttazoni@mp.usbr.gov .
