Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Bob Johnson announced today the appointment of Daniel J. DuBray, former Assistant Director Communications for the Bureau of Land Management as Reclamation's Chief of Public Affairs.

As Chief of Public Affairs, DuBray will be responsible for managing Reclamation's national media relations program and ensuring public involvement and participation in Reclamation's decision making process.

He brings to Reclamation a solid background in public affairs, having served in a variety of communications related positions at the Department of the Interior, Reclamation's parent agency," Johnson said. "This breadth of experience, which includes time serving on Capitol Hill and in both radio and television news, has provided him with a unique perspective which I believe will be a tremendous asset in addressing the issues facing Reclamation today."

In 2005, he became the Press Secretary in the Department's Office of Communications and most recently served as Assistant Director for Communications at the Bureau of Land Management.

DuBray's broadcasting career included stints with NPR affiliate KUER-FM and KALL-AM/FM in Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as on-air and news management roles in his hometown of Billings, Montana, with KULR-8 TV and Community Seven Television.

DuBray earned a B.A. in Communications Arts and Mass Media from Montana State University-Billings and attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He is a licensed Amateur Radio Operator and an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Indian Tribe of South Dakota.
