Reclamation Releases Final Environmental Assessment for Teton River Canyon Resource Management Plan

The Bureau of Reclamation has completed the Final Environmental Assessment for the Teton River Canyon Resource Management Plan. The RMP will guide the future use and management of Reclamation lands in eastern Idaho along 22 miles of the Teton River above the former Teton Dam site.
The Final EA includes a Finding of No Significant Impact, indicating that implementing the preferred alternative would result in no significant impacts to the natural and human environment. The preferred alternative includes measures to improve fish and wildlife habitat, restore native vegetation, improve recreation facilities and public access, and provide protection for cultural resources.
The EA sets the direction for preparing the RMP. The RMP will be a 15-year plan and is expected to be completed in late December of this year. There are currently no plans to rebuild the dam, but the Teton Dam site remains listed as a protected reservoir site under the Idaho State Water Plan.
