The Bureau of Reclamation has released documents in support of its decision to grant an access road easement across Reclamation administered lands on the north side of Prineville Reservoir near Prineville, Ore.

The applicant, Land Acquisition and Development Company of Fox, Ore., requested the access easement to develop its proposed housing subdivision on 75 acres of private lands beyond Reclamation's boundary. The requested easement is the only way to access the property, known as Indian Rock Estates, Phase II.

Reclamation's Final Environmental Assessment (EA) presents the analyses of the impacts of an alternative that would grant the access easement to allow development and construction of a housing subdivision. All comments received from the public review and comment period were reviewed and considered by Reclamation during preparation of the Final EA.

The decision document for this action, the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), concludes granting the access easement would have no significant impacts on the quality of the human environment or the natural and cultural resources of the area. Therefore, an environmental impact statement will not be prepared and Reclamation will grant the easement.

The FONSI/Final EA is available on the Internet by following the link at www.usbr.gov/pn. In Prineville, printed copies are available for review at the Crook County Public Library and the Reclamation office. Copies are available at Reclamation offices in Portland, Ore., and Boise, Idaho. To obtain a copy of the FONSI/Final EA or a CD of the document, contact Tanya Sommer, Lower Columbia Area Office, Bureau of Reclamation, 1201 NE Lloyd Boulevard, Suite 750, Portland OR 97232-1295.
