For Release: August 28, 2006

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the selection of the ECO Team to help Klamath Basin stakeholders finalize the design for the organizational governance structure for the Conservation Implementation Program (CIP). The ECO Team is formed by ECO Resource Group of Bainbridge Island, Washington, together with Jones Stokes Associates of Sacramento, California. Mr. David Sale will be the Project Manger for CIP, and Ms. Sandra Davis will guide the development of the governance structure and a public working session.

The CIP governance structure, developed from public input over the last 18 months, will be independently evaluated by the ECO Team and presented for discussion at a public working session in early December 2006. The CIP is a basin-wide, stakeholder-driven restoration program with four goals: restoring the ecosystem, maintaining sustainable water use while reducing demand, contributing to Tribal Trust responsibilities of the Federal government, and fostering partnerships between governments and private interest in the Klamath Basin. A successful CIP will contribute to the stability of the economy of the entire Klamath Basin.

For additional information regarding the CIP, please contact Ms. Rae Olsen at 541-880-2543 or e-mail rolsen@mp.usbr.gov .
