Technical Work Group to Meet in Arizona on Colorado River Issues

The Technical Work Group of the Adaptive Management Work Group is meeting August 2-3, 2006 in Phoenix, Ariz., addressing issues related to the Glen Canyon Adaptive Management Program.

The meeting is being held to discuss technical issues and to develop recommendations for use by the Adaptive Management Work Group (AMWG), a Federal Advisory Committee to the Secretary of the Interior on the operation of Glen Canyon Dam and management of downstream resources in Glen and Grand Canyons. Agenda items include reports on sedimenttransport studies, terrestrial vegetation, Fiscal Year 2007 hydrograph and budget planning, updates on the endangered humpback chub, and other issues related to resources of the Colorado River. The meeting is open to the public.

The Technical Work Group (TWG) is a sub-committee of the AMWG and is comprised of technical representatives who represent members of the Adaptive Management Program. Responsibilities of the TWG include the development of criteria and standards for monitoring and research programs; provide periodic reviews and updates; and provide information, as necessary, to the AMWG.

The meeting will be held at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, 2 Arizona Center, 400 N. 5th St., 12th Floor Conference Rooms A and B. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. on the first day and will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second day.
