For Release: June 27, 2006

Effective immediately today, Reclamation is closing two sites at Green Mountain Reservoir. Both sites are now closed to public access.

The first site is a set of boulders, just east of Green Mountain Dam, popular for cliff jumping into the reservoir. This site has been temporarily closed for public safety. A dive crew working at the dam has anchored a work barge to the largest of the boulders. The anchor lines greatly heighten the risk of personal injury or death when jumping from the rocks to the reservoir. Trespassers on the rocks will be fined.

The second closed site is a paved area around a small building just off the right of the road when driving from Green Mountain Dam into the Town of Heeney. This building and the parking area around it are now permanently closed to public access.

For more information on either closed site, please contact Kara Lamb at (970) 962-4326 or at klamb@gp.usbr.gov.
