For Release: April 02, 2003

As spring weather approaches, so too does the interest in boating and fishing at many of the reservoirs and river systems managed by the Bureau of Reclamation throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Recreation enthusiasts heading to Lake Walcott now will be unable to launch due to present reservoir levels behind Minidoka Dam located just outside Burley, Idaho.

Although low water may delay boat access at Lake Walcott until mid-April, seasonal recreation activities can still take place at the popular location. Presently, the water level at Lake Walcott is 4,240 feet, 5 feet below full pool. That level started to rise around March 31, and the level will increase steadily to full pool by the middle of April.

Boaters interested in ramp access information can find it by logging on to Reclamation's website at www.pn.usbr.gov. Once there, click on the link Boat Ramp Info for the latest information.

Direct information may also be obtained by calling Lake Walcott State Park staff at 436-1258.
