The Bureau of Reclamation will provide biennial bridge inspection services at three of its facilities in the Shasta and Trinity areas through a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Federal Highway Administration regulations require highway bridges to be inspected every two years.

On Monday, May 22, 2006, the Judge Francis Carr Powerplant Bridge will be subject to lane closures for extended periods between the hours of 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. The bridge is located on South Shore Drive (also known as JF Carr Powerhouse Road). South Shore Drive is located west of the City of Redding in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area off Highway 299 near Mile Post 9.8. J.F. Kennedy Memorial Drive may be used as an alternate access to South Shore Drive and the associated trail heads, campgrounds, and picnic area.

The Shasta Dam Spillway Bridge will be subject to lane closures for extended periods between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Access across the dam is available only with a permit and permit holders can expect extended delays.

The Keswick Dam Spillway Bridge will be subject to lane closures for extended periods between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. The Keswick Dam Spillway Bridge is located on Keswick Dam Boulevard.

At each of these sites, traffic controls and flaggers will be in place.
