Reclamation to Host Public Meetings on Clark Canyon Contract Renewals Revised Draft Environmental Assessment

The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled public meetings in Dillon and Butte, Mont., pertaining to the revised draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the renewal of long-term water contracts or conversion to repayment contracts with the Clark Canyon Water Supply Company and the East Bench Irrigation District.

Reclamation has prepared the EA in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and will be soliciting written comments on the revised draft EA until June 12, 2006.

Two public meetings will be held at the following times and locations:
Dillon Monday, May 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Dillon Search and Rescue Building
1000 Highway 41
Butte Tuesday, May 23 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Comfort Inn, Montana Room,
2777 Harrison Avenue

Both meetings will be an open house format with Reclamation staff on hand to answer questions regarding the contract renewal process or the revised draft EA. There will not be a formal presentation, so please attend at your convenience throughout the evening.

The Bureau of Reclamation has also created a website to inform the public about issues and activities related to the Clark Canyon contract renewals. The website, www.usbr.gov/gp/mtao/, provides electronic copy of the revised draft EA, as well as updated news on public meetings, comment periods, and other related events.
