Draft EIR/EIS Released for the Contra Costa Water District Alternative Intake Project; Public Hearings Scheduled

The Bureau of Reclamation and the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) have released the Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) for the CCWD Alternative Intake Project for public review and comment. The Draft EIR/EIS evaluates the proposed construction and operation of a new drinking water intake for CCWD in the central Delta and alternatives. The project is proposed to protect and improve drinking water quality for CCWD's customers.

Public hearings will be held to receive verbal and written comments on the Draft EIR/EIS. A 30-minute open house to view project information and interact with the project team will precede the public hearings in Antioch and Concord.

Antioch, Tuesday, June 6, 2006, 7 - 8 p.m., Antioch Woman's Club, 509 G Street

Sacramento, Wednesday, June 7, 2006, 10 - 11 a.m., Federal Building Cafeteria, 2800 Cottage Way, Room C-1001

Concord, Thursday, June 8, 2006, 7 - 8 p.m., Contra Costa Water District, 1331 Concord Avenue, Board Room
