Luke D. Johnson Named as Reclamation's Chief of Congressional and Legislative Affairs

Bill Rinne, Acting Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation, today announced the appointment of Luke Johnson of Falls Church, Va., as Reclamation's Chief of Congressional and Legislative Affairs.

In this position, Johnson oversees Reclamation's congressional and legislative Affairs activities and serves as Reclamation's primary liaison with Congress.

Johnson comes to Reclamation from the staff of Senator Robert F. Bennett (R-Utah), where he was the senior legislative staff member for all energy, natural resource and agricultural issues. Prior to joining Senator Bennett's staff, Johnson worked on the House Committee on Resources.

"Luke brings a wealth of experience to this critical position and we look forward to the expertise he will bring to Reclamation," said Rinne. I am delighted he has accepted this new challenge and am pleased to have his expertise on our team."

Rinne also noted that Mathew Maucieri of Alexandria, Va., had recently joined Reclamation as the Deputy Chief of Congressional and Legislative Affairs. Maucieri's previous position was with the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA). Johnson graduated magna cum laude from Utah State University in Logan, Utah in 1999. Johnson and his wife Hillary have three children.
