Reclamation Awards $1 Million Contract for Roza Powerplant Switchyard Improvements

The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $1 million contract for improvements to the Roza Diversion Dam Powerplant switchyard located on the Yakima River about 10 miles north of Yakima, Wash. T&D Technologies, Inc. of Denver, Colo. was awarded the contract on April 19.

The Pacific Northwest Regions 10 powerplants provide enormous benefits to the American public, stated Bill Rinne, Acting Commissioner. Maintaining our powerplants in good working order is a priority for Reclamation.

The contractor will install a winding generator for a replacement transformer to the Roza Switchyard. The project is expected to be completed by September 2007.

Roza Division Dam was completed in 1939. The powerplant, completed in 1958, has over 70 miles of transmission lines that deliver power to pumping plants in the Roza Division. The Roza Powerplant has a capacity for 12,937 kilowatts.
