The Bureau of Reclamation received a request from the Land Acquisition and Development Company of Fox, Ore., to grant an access easement across Reclamation administered lands at Prineville Reservoir, near Prineville, Ore.

The applicant intends to develop Indian Rock Estates, a residential housing subdivision, in two phases on its privately owned and undeveloped property adjacent to Reclamation land at Prineville Reservoir.

Development plans show 25 lots planned for Phase I, and 16 lots for Phase II. Since Phase I of the project can be accessed without crossing over federal land, Reclamation has no decision to make regarding that portion of the proposed development. However, Phase II involves a request for an easement approximately 100 feet wide and 330 feet long to connect that portion of the development with SE Juniper Canyon Road on the north side of Prineville Reservoir. The applicant's easement request from Reclamation is for an area of less than an acre in size on a steep slope.

The National Environmental Policy Act requires Reclamation to evaluate the possible environmental and cultural impacts of the applicant's request before it makes a decision to grant or deny the requested access.

Written comments can be mailed to Tanya Sommer, Lower Columbia Area Office, Bureau of Reclamation, 1201 NE Lloyd Boulevard, Suite 750, Portland OR 97232. Comments may also be sent by fax to (720) 544-0611, or by email to irock@do.usbr.gov. Ms. Sommer may be reached by telephone at (503) 872-2846. Comments must be received by April 27.
