The Bureau of Reclamation's Snake River Area Office is closing the Ririe Dam access road to vehicular traffic until further notice while repair work is performed at the site located about 15 miles east of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

"Normally, the vehicular closure doesn't occur until September 30, but it has been determined that an early closure is necessary to accommodate repair activities," said Chris Ketchum, Reclamation Deputy Area Manager.

However, Ketchum said citizens will still have foot access across the bridge until further notice.

Ririe Dam, located on Willow Creek, was completed in 1977 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is operated by Reclamation as part of its Ririe Project.
