Mid-Pacific Region Increases Flows For Flood Operations

Due to the strong weather system and continued wet conditions, the Bureau of Reclamation will increase flood control releases at Nimbus, Keswick, and Friant Dams, effective, April 3, 2006. The northern Sierra precipitation is over 160 percent of average for this date and the snowpack-water content is over 130 percent of average. The increase in reservoir releases will provide flood control protection for the region and allow for a regulated fill of the reservoirs through the spring. Current scheduled releases to the rivers are as follows:

Folsom Dam: Nimbus Dam-Release to the American River
