The Bureau of Reclamation, Snake River Area Office transferred ownership of its historical building, located at 214 Broadway Avenue, Boise, Idaho, to the Idaho State Historical Society on March 13.

The Idaho State Historical Society will ensure the historic integrity of the building is maintained. The building will be made available for leased office space in the near future.

The building was completed in 1912 and was used by Reclamation, formally called the United States Reclamation Service, for administering the Boise Irrigation Project. During the construction of Arrowrock Dam, the building also served as a private railroad spur for deliveries to Arrowrock Dam.

The building was officially known as the Central Snake Project Office. The Boise Project Board of Control occupied the building with Reclamation until 1995 when the Boise Project Board of Control relocated.

In 2003, Reclamation, together with the U.S. Geological Survey, moved into its present location in the F.H. Newell Building on Collins Road.
