The Bureau of Reclamation announces that a newly designed exhibit, Floods and Flows: The Story of Folsom Dam, celebrating the dam's 50th anniversary, will open on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Folsom History Museum. The exhibit will feature a timeline illustrating floods and droughts in the American River watershed and significant events leading to the construction of the dam. Photos, artifacts, and interactive exhibits will demonstrate the construction and purpose of Folsom Dam and the Central Valley Project. The exhibit runs from March 25 to July 9, 2006.

The Folsom History Museum is located at 823 Sutter Street, Folsom. Hours are Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for youth ages 13-17. Completed in 1956 for flood control, Folsom Dam also provides water for agriculture, homes, fisheries, hydropower generation, recreation, and habitat protection.
