For Release: February 10, 2006

The Bureau of Reclamation will increase flow releases from Anderson Ranch Dam from the current flow rate of 300 cubic feet per second to 600 cfs starting on February 15. Anderson Ranch Dam is located on the South Fork of the Boise River about 40 miles east of Boise, Idaho.

Individuals along the South Fork of the Boise River are advised to exercise caution due to the increased flows. The releases are being increased to provide adequate reservoir space for the anticipated above normal spring runoff flows.

The February 1 runoff forecast for the South Fork of the Boise River is currently 130 percent of normal, according to Brian Sauer, Acting Water Operations Manager.

Anderson Ranch Dam was constructed in 1950 and is a multiple-purpose structure that provides benefits in irrigation, hydroelectric power, and flood control.
