CASCADE, Idaho – The Bureau of Reclamation has closed the Hot Springs Wildlife Management Area along Stonebreaker Lane near the Sugarloaf State Park Unit to vehicle traffic.

Reclamation prohibits vehicle traffic by its management plan for Lake Cascade. Staff have posted signage in the area as closed to vehicle traffic with violators to be ticketed. In addition, the snowmobile access gate immediately adjacent to this location has also been closed to prevent further unauthorized vehicular use through that gate. As soon as snow prevents further vehicular travel down Stonebreaker Lane, this snowmobile access gate will be reopened.

In Reclamation’s management plan, land surrounding Lake Cascade falls into one of five categories: Wildlife Management Area, Conservation Open Space, Recreation, Rural Residential, and Operations and Maintenance.

Meanwhile, Idaho Fish and Game will maintain the Access Yes! parking area at the entrance to Stonebreaker Lane, and access is allowed at the Sugarloaf Boat Ramp and at the small pullout on Bureau of Reclamation land at the top of the hill until those locations are no longer accessible due to snow.
