RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $10,708,466.00 contract to T1 Construction LLC, of North Bend Oregon to repair the Angostura Dam spillway.

The project aims to improve access by upgrading the old road to the stilling basin and addressing freeze-thaw deterioration by removing and replacing damaged concrete on the face of the dam.

Construction is projected to take 955 days, primarily due to spillway release restrictions to the face of the spillway. Onsite preparation work is anticipated to start this winter and continue into early spring.

Angostura Reservoir sits on the Cheyenne River in Fall River County, South Dakota. The Bureau of Reclamation established it in 1949 after constructing Angostura Dam. The reservoir spans approximately 4,407 water surface acres and 4,546 land acres, boasting 42 miles of shoreline at the southeastern edge of the Black Hills near the Nebraska border. Because of its unique location, Angostura Reservoir serves as a critical stopover for migrating waterbirds and provides habitat for various passerine species, making it an important ecological and recreational resource in southwestern South Dakota.
