In mid-September, the Bureau of Reclamation team had an amazing time participating in the 2024 Wenatchee River Salmon Festival, celebrating the return of salmon to the Wenatchee River.
Reclamation’s booth drew a large crowd of enthusiastic students, where Otto Otter books, coloring sheets, and bookmarks were handed out.
At Reclamation’s interactive stations, students explored macroinvertebrates and learned about the salmon life cycle. But that was just the beginning of the fun!
Festival attendees enjoyed a variety of activities and exhibits, including the Rocky Reach Hatchery tour, fish dissection, gyotaku (fish printing), fishing demonstrations, canoe displays, storytelling, and traditional basketry.
The event attracted thousands of participants from 39 schools, along with many community members—all eager to deepen their knowledge about salmon, environmental stewardship, and Tribal culture.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success and for helping to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards!
