WASHINGTON – Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton is pleased to announce the selection of Sean Torpey as the senior advisor for policy and administration.
In this senior leader position, Torpey serves as the principal management advisor to the commissioner and deputy commissioner and will provide invaluable leadership on bureau-wide policy, and administrative and strategic priorities.
In making the announcement, Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton stated, "Sean's extensive experience and proven leadership make him exceptionally well-suited to enhance our ability to tackle the challenges of managing water and power resources in the West."
With nearly 20 years of experience within Reclamation, Torpey most recently served as the chief of staff to the commissioner and brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role as a senior leader. Prior to working in Reclamation’s headquarters, Torpey served in both the Yuma and Albuquerque Area offices, and provided direct support to both the Lower and Upper Colorado Regions.

Upon his appointment, Torpey expressed enthusiasm for advancing Reclamation’s mission and priorities throughout the 17 Western states, stating, "I’m extremely honored to assume this new role and remain focused on representing the perspective of Reclamation’s employees in the field and area offices as we advance implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Inflation Reduction Act, and all of our programs and policies throughout Reclamation."
Torpey, a certified project management professional, is a native of Tucson, Arizona, and holds a Bachelor of Science in management information systems from the University of Arizona, and a Master of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University.
