WASHINGTON – Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton announces the appointment of Mat Maucieri as the senior advisor for operations, a significant step to advance agency-wide efficiencies that support strategic initiatives across Reclamation.

As the senior advisor for operations, Maucieri will play a critical role in guiding Reclamation’s water and power policy priorities, shaping regional programs, and addressing critical water scarcity issues.

“Mat’s selection for this new senior leader position reflects his proven leadership and demonstrated expertise in advancing Reclamation’s priorities, including efforts to invest historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to manage and improve water resources across the American West,” said Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton.

Deputy Commissioner David Palumbo welcomed Maucieri to his new role, noting, “We are excited to have Mat in this essential senior leadership position. His extensive experience working on water, power and environmental projects align precisely with our focus on the wide variety of new programs and opportunities to meet future water and power demands in the western United States."

The appointment of Maucieri as the senior advisor for operations underscores Reclamation’s commitment to advancing its role in ensuring sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective water and power delivery to the Tribal Nations and communities it serves. Maucieri spearheaded Reclamation’s efforts to allocate $2.9 billion in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for 402 ongoing projects.

Maucieri expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I am honored to support Reclamation in this capacity and look forward to elevating our ability to partner with our stakeholders to address the unprecedented challenges facing the Western states and achieve our water and power policy priorities.”

Maucieri is from Sacramento, California, and is a graduate of the University of California at Davis. Prior to joining Reclamation in 2006, he worked for the Association of California Water Agencies and as a legislative aide in the California State Assembly.
