PORTLAND, Ore. – Beginning this fall and extending into spring and summer 2024, Bureau of Reclamation employees and contractors will be conducting field investigations in and around Scoggins Dam and Henry Hagg Lake for a safety of dams project.
Reclamation is collecting data to establish baseline information for environmental compliance and will collect photos and data regarding wetlands, cultural and visual resources, and recreation.
As part of this collection process, employees will be digging small holes, recording data with Global Positioning System units, or applying temporary flagging in specific areas. Any flagging applied will be removed after completion of data collection. During the spring and summer, contractors may approach the public to request participation in a recreation survey.
All study areas are within Reclamation-owned land, and Reclamation anticipates accessing its federally owned land during this work. The study areas where Reclamation employees and contractors may be working are shown on the attached map. Access to these lands by Reclamation employees and contractors, including access road easements, is authorized for the performance of official duties.
Reclamation reminds the public that it is unlawful to impede federal employees or contractors from conducting official business. Assaulting, resisting, opposing, intimidating, impeding, or interfering with a federal employee while performing official duties is subject to fines and or imprisonment per 18 U.S. Code § 111.
