Reclamation advances water delivery project for the Navajo Nation with contract negotiations for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project’s San Juan Lateral

DURANGO, COLO. - The Bureau of Reclamation invites members of the press and public to a virtual meeting for negotiations with the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) for a carriage contract of non-project water through San Juan Lateral features of the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project, located near Shiprock, New Mexico. This contract for San Juan Lateral features will facilitate the use of the PNM reservoir for storage and water deliveries to the Navajo Nation and City of Gallup.

 What: Public meeting to negotiate the San Juan Lateral Carriage Contract.

When: Tuesday, May 24, at 2 p.m.

Where: This meeting will be virtually conducted via Microsoft Teams.

Why: The contract to be negotiated will provide terms and conditions for the conveyance costs of specific project features. All negotiations are open to the public as observers and the public will have the opportunity to ask questions and offer comments during a 30-minute comment period following the negotiation session. If negotiations do not take the full 2 hours, the 30-minute public comment period will begin at the conclusion of the negotiation.
