Robert "Bob" Pike was named the Design, Estimating and Construction Oversight and Dam Safety Officer on Nov 10, 2021.
He will provide oversight of design, estimating and construction activities as they are being formulated and prepared to ensure that executive-level management decisions and products are sound at the project and corporate levels. Bob will also serve as Reclamation's dam safety officer where he will provide broad program guidance, conduct reviews and perform quality assurance of Reclamation's Dam Safety Program.
Pike joined Reclamation in 1982 as a rotation engineer working on rehabilitation of the Midvale Irrigation District distribution system in the Riverton Field Office in Wyoming. Pike moved to the Upper Missouri Basin Regional Office in Billings, Montana, in 1984 to work in the Reservoir Operations branch. In 1989, he was hired as the Regional Dam Safety Coordinator and has been working in the Dam Safety program since.
Bob also worked in the Washington office as the Great Plains Regional Liaison and to the Leadville Mine Drainage Tunnel Treatment Plant in 2008. Bob moved to the Dam Safety Office in Denver in 2011, serving as the Great Plains Region Program Manager and the Deputy Chief of Dam Safety office beginning in 2014. In 2019, Bob was named as the chief of the Dam Safety Office.
Pike is a graduate of Montana State University and a registered professional engineer in Colorado. He is a member of and serves on the Board of Directors for the United States Society on Dams and is a member of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials, and the Centre for Energy Advancement through Technology Innovation. Bob enjoys river rafting, skiing, and camping in his spare time.
