Dean Fausett was born in Price, Utah, in 1913. He studied at Brigham Young University, Beaux Arts Institute of Architectural Education, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, and Eastern Illinois University. He is well known for his spectacular paintings of the American West. He is the recipient of the Carnegie International Prize, and his works are featured in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of Fine Art, and the New York City Museum of Fine Art.
