Ralston Crawford (1906-1978)

Ralston Crawford was
born in St. Catherines, Ontario, in 1906. He studied art at the Otis Art Institute in Los
Angeles, the Barnes Foundation, the Academie Colarossi and Academie Scandinave in Paris,
and Columbia University. During his career he taught at many institutions including the Art
Academy of Cincinnati, the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy, the University of Michigan, and the
University of Colorado. He was the recipient of numerous awards and was the featured artist
in many exhibitions. His works can be found in the collection of several universities and
corporations as well as many museums and the Library of Congress.
