Central Valley Steelhead Lifecycle Monitoring
Pursuant to the NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NMFS) Biological Opinion (BO) on Long Term Operations of the Central Valley Project and State Water Project, the Central Valley (CCV) steelhead Lifecycle Monitoring and Juvenile Production Estimate project works to better understand and inform project and nonproject adverse affects on the listed Ecologically Significant Unit (ESU). The documents posted to this webpage seek to identify information gaps and to guide studies aimed at better understanding the CCV steelhead lifecycle and work towards the development of a valley wide Juvenile Production Estimate (JPE). Subsequent studies and a resulting JPE can provide a basis for informing impacts from water operations on the threatened CCV steelhead. Additionally, the findings from these studies could help to inform the benefits of other management actions such as habitat improvement projects implemented by the Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA)
