Stephen V. Magnussen, (Acting) Commissioner,
Bureau of Reclamation, 1995

A native of Northfield, Minnesota, Magnussen earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Fresno State College. Magnussen joined Reclamation in 1960 as a student trainee in the Mid-Pacific office in Sacramento. He also served Reclamation in Washington, D.C., Phoenix, and Boulder City, Nevada. From 1991 to 1994, he worked in the Lower Colorado Regional Office as acting Chief and Regional Office Liaison. In 1994, Magnussen joined the staff of the Assistant Secretary for Water and Science as the Reclamation liaison. After serving as acting Commissioner during 1995, Magnussen became Director of Operations for the Bureau of Reclamation in Washington, D.C.
